Two Cluster Members Win Awards at the 2018 Sligo Business Awards

Two Atlantic MedTech Cluster members picked up awards at the 2018 Sligo Business Awards. This included awards for innovation, corporate social responsibility, and best overall business.

The awards are organised by the Sligo Champion and the winners were announced at a gala dinner on Friday evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa.

Best Innovation in Business Award

Ward Automation won the Best Innovation in Business Award. It is an award that recognises an overall commitment to innovation, something which is part of Ward Automation’s DNA.

John Ward, Managing Director of Ward Automation, said being innovative is a requirement for every project the company works on.

“At Ward Automation, we have a passion for innovation,” he said. “It is a vital part of our design team’s process of developing creative solutions to complex automation challenges.”

Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award

SL Controls won the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its Live Well at SL and Think Well at SL programmes. Live Well at SL promotes good physical health and fitness for SL Controls employees, while Think Well at SL focuses on good mental health in the workplace.

“We want our people to achieve their career goals and have a good work-life balance,” said Keith Moran, SL Controls Managing Director. “We also do everything we can to give back to the community in Sligo where our business is based and where so many of our employees live.

“We have several initiatives, policies, and procedures that help us achieve these goals, including Live Well at SL and Think Well at SL.

“As corporate social responsibility is so important to us, winning this award is very special.”

Best Overall Business Award

Finally, after winning the Best Corporate Social Responsibility category, SL Controls picked up the big award of the evening, the Best Overall Business Award.

Keith Moran said this award is recognition for the whole team at SL Controls.

He said: “Everyone on the SL Controls team is delighted to have won the Best Overall Business Award. All members of the team are committed, and they work hard to deliver best-in-class services to our clients. To get this recognition from the Sligo business community is just fantastic.

“It capped off what was a brilliant evening. Well done to all the shortlisted businesses and the winners.”
