Robotics Engineer (Sligo)

The Role

The Robotics Engineer is a highly technical role that is crucial to the success of producing the company’s high-quality automation equipment for use in the Medical Device and Pharma industries. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Robotics Engineer to work as part of the engineering project team. You will have the opportunity of developing leading-edge robotics applications that integrate with our complex automation equipment and will have exposure to other technologies such as vision and controls systems. The role contributes significantly to the continued success of Ward Automation. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing robotics applications including proof of principle through to the final solution
  • Liaising with the design team in specifying system requirements
  • Perform all robotic software programming activities
  • Research and coordinate the introduction and implementation of new robotics technologies
  • Manages the robotics portions of projects as part of the larger schedule ensuring that timelines and targets are achieved
  • Provide training to team members and customers
  • Give detailed input for all robotics related documentation (FDS,IQ,OQ)
  • Execute the robotics validation portions of protocols
  • Work with the engineering team during machine debug and troubleshooting
  • Communicate effectively with other project team members 

Key Skills

  • Experience working on industrial robotics systems such as ABB, Fanuc, Epson, Kuka, Mitsubishi, Staubli etc.
  • Previous experience at performing joint calibration/mastering on industrial robots.
  • Proficient at writing homing sequences for 6-axes industrial robots.
  • Intricate knowledge of robot singularities, and prevention methods.
  • Experience working on robot simulation software and optimising cell layouts.
  • Has previously integrated robotic systems with PLC’s.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills 

Preferred

  • Proficient at developing VAL 3 programs.
  • Previous experience configuring robot cell safety options (Staubli SafeCell, Fanuc DCS, etc.)
  • Proficient at implementing different methods for homing on both 6-axes and SCARA robots.
  • Understanding of program recovery methods after controller shut-down.
  • Experience with vision guided robotics applications.
  • Experience with palletising applications.
  • Experience with conveyor tracking systems.
  • Experience programming in high level languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to debug robot related electrical and pneumatic issues.

Requirements

  • 2/3 years minimum in industrial robotics programming
  • Qualification to level 8 in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Technology discipline
