Profile of ATS – Automation Specialists

Automation technologies have played a pivotal role in moving manufacturing industries across all sectors into the modern era. Specifically, automation has driven efficiencies, made manufacturing plants more productive, and improved the quality of products that customers receive. ATS, a member of the Atlantic MedTech Cluster, has been a leading provider of automation solutions to a number of sectors since its foundation in 2005, including the medical device manufacturing sector.

Today, it occupies an enviable position in the market and remains at the cutting of automation and related Industry 4.0 technologies.

ATS is an award-winning automation company that specialises in custom automation solutions. It designs, builds, tests, installs, validates, optimises, and supports these automation solutions in manufacturing facilities across Ireland and further afield.

Knowledge and Experience

ATS was founded by Garreth Finlay and Fergus Hynes, both of whom came from a medical device manufacturing background, having previously worked for Abbott.

Garreth Finlay said: “We could see at the time we started ATS that manufacturing was becoming increasingly important to the Irish economy. We also worked for Abbott in Sligo, so we knew first-hand the importance of Ireland’s regions to the manufacturing sector, including the North West and West.

“Our goal at the time was to provide high-end, high-quality automation solutions to manufacturers in expanding sectors, including MedTech. This is still our company mission today.”

The success of ATS comes down to its in-house expertise as its team is highly skilled and experienced in the latest automation and manufacturing technologies, processes, and techniques. This expertise makes it possible for ATS to provide industry-leading and innovative solutions in high-precision sectors, including heavily regulated sectors like medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Garreth said: “We specialise in developing standard as well as fully customised automation solutions for the MedTech industry although we also have strategic clients in the automotive and electronic sectors. Our clients in those sectors include widely recognised global brand names.

“That applies to the MedTech sector too as our clients include some of the largest medical device manufacturers in the world.”

End-to-End Automation Expertise

ATS is a recognised leader in the provision of automation services to the MedTech sector because it focuses exclusively on providing high-quality, high-precision solutions.

More than ever before, medical device manufacturing facilities in Ireland and around the world are looking for ways to use new technologies to enhance and improve their operations. With an ethos that embraces innovation, ATS delivers on these objectives.

“Manufacturing technologies, equipment, and processes never stand still,” said Garreth. “We stay ahead of the curve with these developments, so we can offer our clients solutions that will deliver efficiency savings and productivity gains today as well as in the future.”
